FAQ

What’s the difference between Safety Screens and normal insect screens

Standard insect screens are designed only to keep the bugs out, so they are made of a thin mesh (often fiberglass) that breaks down over time and damages easily, especially in the Middle East heat. Safety Screens are designed as much more than an insect screen. They are a virtually unbreakable security screen with a patented locking system that’s been tested with baseball bats, knives… and jump kicks! Check out the videos on Safety Screens YouTube channel.

Do the screens come with a warranty?

The screens come with a 10 year warranty and component parts are covered by a 1 year warranty.

How much will it cost?

Safety Screens offer a free measure and quote service. As each of the screens are custom made to measure the best way to get an accurate quote is to contact us and we will arrange an onsite visit.

Why are your screens so much more expensive than insect screens?

The materials used to make Safety Screens so robust and secure are high tensile stainless steel mesh, quality aluminium frames and a patented locking system to keep them extra secure. As with any premium product, these elements mean each door and window costs more to make than your average fly screen. They last so much longer though that it’s worth considering how much you spend replacing broken fly screens over the years? Our screens come with a 10 year warranty too so you have peace of mind that your investment is a good one.

Does the screen require any maintenance?

Safety Screens products require only very basic maintenance. Simply wash the screens about once per month with a mild detergent and then rinse off the soap residue.

How will they handle the harsh Middle East weather?

The screens have been developed over many years and have proven themselves through stringent product testing. The stainless steel mesh and aluminium frames have been treated and powder coated following strict controls to provide protection against extreme conditions. Mesh stainless steel security screens are very common in other hot countries such as Australia and have performed extremely well in those conditions.

Will the screens on my windows block the light?

Having a screen on the window is similar to having window tinting on your car. The woven screen has a transparent appearance much the same as a traditional fly screen, with the added benefit of security. The screens are woven with high tensile 0.8mm stainless steel which still allows plenty of light penetration while keeping intruders, and bugs, out.

Can I fit a pet door into the screen?

Pet doors can be fitted to all hinged and sliding screen doors. We use a third party pet door from PetSafe® to allow access for all cats and normal sized dogs.

How do I fit the screens if I’m a tenant and only renting my villa?

This is a common question from the many renters out there who would still like to install our screen doors and windows. One common option we see is for tenants and landlords to each pay half the cost. A second option is to ask your landlord to pay the full cost. Many landlords have done this as they understand the value it adds to their property. Lastly, we provide a guarantee that if within 12 months of installation you move homes, we will move the screens to your new villa providing the doors and windows are of similar size.
